Sola wood,  known as jointvetch, is a fast-growing natural plant fiber hand-peeled into thin sheets by Thai artisans. The white sheet is the standard material for making sola wood flowers and can be dyed. The rare pink tone occurs naturally in only about 10% of harvested wood, so its color pattern, thickness and brittleness vary from roll to roll. 
No two rolls are exactly alike, and this natural variation is part of the material's character, not a defect. Working with sola wood is a slow, mindful craft. Use them together to add color variety to your DIY sola flower projects without committing to a full roll of the rare color alone.
