The Sun:
When it comes to "The Sun" Tarot card, its general meaning revolves around success, happiness, radiance, illumination, and clarity. It is widely considered the most positive card in the entire deck. Anyone who draws this card is usually thrilled to know that joy and good fortune are on the horizon. And yes, I am no exception. But let me share what this card means from my own perspective.
Having lived in Thailand my whole life, I can say that Thai people are deeply influenced by the sun. Situated near the equator, our country is hot almost year-round. While people in Western countries often love sunbathing to warm up in their colder climates, Thais definitely do not do that! However, despite our endlessly long, hot days, the Thai way of life still takes full advantage of the sun's rays.
Thailand is an agricultural nation; sunlight is the primary factor driving the growth of our crops and our harvests. We rely on the sun to dry our freshly washed laundry, leaving clothes with a crisp, subtly clean scent. Dogs and cats love to come out and roll around in the sun. It’s their ultimate moment of comfort. We also use the sun for food preservation, sun-drying fish and pork to extend their shelf life and intensify their flavors. Even the architecture of traditional Thai houses is dictated by the sun. This is most evident in the long, extended eaves designed to provide shade from the harsh midday glare, which is a distinct hallmark of tropical home design.
The sun is so deeply woven into our daily routines that we barely even notice it is an essential part of our existence.
Similarly, we might never realize that our own existence subtly influences the people around us. We just might not be aware of it. I had a small realization about this during the early days of starting my business, Plawanature. In the beginning, my "light" was just a tiny spark. No one could see me; I wasn't shining very brightly yet.
While I was stumbling my way through building the business, there were people who consistently helped and guided me. Even those entirely outside of my industry served as inspirations, giving me opportunities to move forward and grow, acting as my role models. I always promised myself that once my life became more settled, I would share the good things or whatever talents I had to help others, too. But back then, I had no idea how I could possibly inspire or assist anyone.
As my business gradually grew, I learned to balance my time to suit every aspect of who I am. I poured my heart into the business I love, chased my dreams, and recklessly threw myself into trying new things. I also made sure to carve out a balanced amount of time for other parts of my life, like family and relationships.
The path wasn't exactly strewn with rose petals.; in fact, it was quite a bumpy ride. I started from absolute zero, learning things step by step. There were intense highs and difficult lows, and none of the challenges were easy. But I made it through. I learned to embrace whatever life threw my way, to find the silver linings in the trials, and to be grateful for life's gifts. I began using a mental sieve to filter out the unnecessary things ,projects that didn't work out, or the noise from people who didn't understand what I was doing, so I could focus purely on what truly mattered to me. It has turned out to be quite a beautifully well-rounded life.
While I was busy focusing on myself, several friends started coming to me to share their stories and ask for advice. I listened intently and offered my perspective. Through this, I discovered a hidden talent I never knew I had:
Some friends told me my words gave them peace of mind.
Others said they gained the motivation to keep fighting especially when it came to taking a business from step 0 to 1, which is always the hardest part.
For some, simply watching me live my normal everyday life was enough to inspire them.
I had no idea that I possessed the ability to positively influence how others feel, or that there were people out there who actually wanted to live a life like mine.
I may not have achieved massive, famous-level success, but I now realize that my "light" has grown brighter—bright enough for others to finally see it. I am so glad that the happiness I hold within can now be passed on, bringing good fortune to those around me. And beautifully, sharing this joy reflects right back, bringing good luck to me once again.
