Marigold Seed
Marigold, known in Thai as “Dok Bua Tong,” is widely found in northern highland regions of Thailand, especially in provinces like Mae Hong Son, where fields of golden yellow blooms are a seasonal highlight. While the flowers are well-known, the dried seed head is less commonly appreciated—yet it holds unique value in floral crafts.
Once dried, the seed head becomes a small, rounded form covered in stiff, spiky bristles. It is lightweight, naturally brown in color, and durable, making it ideal for use as a natural flower center.
In handmade floral design, marigold seed heads are often used as flower cores, especially when paired with sola wood petals. Their texture contrasts beautifully with soft materials and adds a natural focal point to the arrangement. They can also be trimmed or dyed, but are often left in their raw form to preserve their earthy appeal.
