Cycad

Cycad, known in Thai as "Prong," is a tropical plant species native to several regions of Thailand, especially in the North and Northeast. It is often found in dry forests, rocky hillsides, and cultivated gardens, and is recognized for its ancient lineage and palm-like appearance.

The plant is characterized by its stiff, narrow, and glossy green leaflets arranged in a rosette. Once dried, individual leaflets can be separated and used as a crafting material

.

In floral design, dried cycad leaves are often trimmed into long, slender shapes and combined with natural seed heads to form stylized flowers. Their clean lines, durability, and slight natural curvature make them ideal for adding a bold, sculptural element to handmade botanical compositions. Cycad elements are especially valued for their ability to create contrast in both texture and form.
