Paduak
Paduak, known in Thai as “Pradu”, is a hardwood tree native to Southeast Asia, commonly found in dry forests and mixed deciduous areas across central and northeastern Thailand. While the wood is well known for its strength and reddish tone, it’s the dried seed wings that hold a unique charm in floral crafting.
The seed wings of the Paduak tree are round, thin, and papery with a slightly crinkled texture. When dried, they develop a natural variation in warm earth tones—ranging from light beige to golden brown—which gives them a soft, aged look.
In handmade floral work, these seed wings are carefully layered and curled to form delicate rose-like petals. Their natural curve and fibrous surface make them ideal for adding dimension and movement to the flower. Often left in their original tone, or lightly tinted, Paduak seed wings bring a rustic elegance to sustainable floral designs.
